The social media technologies I have chosen to implement within my organisation are Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
One of the most important things to consider when implementing these technologies is how they are going to be managed. It’s important that they are managed well, as without managing them well it could cause a lot of issues. For example, you don’t want too many people to have access to be able to create posts, as this could result in too many things being posted at once, or the wrong things being shared.
To make sure that not too many people can post on our social media accounts the passwords will only be given to a select few people, who know what they are doing. They will know what is ok to post and what isn’t okay, as well as knowing when to check the account and when to reply to people. They will be given the guidelines for out accounts.
Creating guidelines for our social media accounts is one of the most important ways to manage them correctly, the guidelines would say things like: make sure the account is checked at least daily; reply to peoples comments; don’t start arguments; don’t swear; be friendly and polite. By creating these guidelines it ensures that whoever is checking the account, it is always up to the same standard.
In order for our social media technologies to be used to their full potential we will think carefully about what is going to be shared. We will make sure that what we are posting is relevant, as this will help to engage the people that follow us.
When managing our social media accounts it will also be important to keep our brand guidelines in mind. This will help to keep our accounts looking professional.
One way that we can make sure our social media is being managed well is by using a management tool such as ‘hootsuite’. Management tools allow you to create and schedule posts. Using a management tool helps to keep the quality of posts, as it means you can create posts in advance when you have the time to do so, instead of trying to think of a post everyday. Trying to think of an interesting post everyday may not be possible, you could just end up creating a rushed post that doesn’t look professional, just for the sake of it. Where as if you are creating the posts in advance it gives you time to think about what you are going to say and actually make it interesting to read.
