Social media allows people to share content with others – Content that social media allows you to share can be things such as blogs, photos, videos and much more. Social media allows you to communicate and share content, with people you may or may not know in real life.
Social media works by people having their own account, which they can use to post their views/thoughts/photos. People will often create the content themselves, such as images and share it with their followers and/or friends.
‘Friends’ are used when having your own Facebook account -your ‘friends’ can see your content and you can see theirs. Where as followers are a bit different. if you follow someone you can see their content, but they will need to follow you back to see your content. Followers are used on twitter and Instagram.
Social media technologies are the platforms that allow people to communicate with one another. There are a wide range of social media technologies that allow you to share things with people, some of the social media technologies out there are huge and have billions of followers, examples of these are Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter. There are also some more niche types of social media technologies that have a smaller amount of users, some examples of niche social media technologies are Meetup and Behance.
Social media technologies are available to use online when you have access to internet. You are able to access social media technologies on a range of devices, such as mobile phones, tablets, laptops and pcs.
There are often an app version of social media technologies, that you can download, onto your phone or tablet. The apps will be laid out in a way which makes it easier for the user to use.
